The idea for this mash-up came when I was two glasses of wine deep into playing Super Smash Bros and thinking, “I don’t recognize a lot of these fighters. Can’t I just play as Bea Arthur?”

Realizing I had the power to turn this fantasy into reality, I got to work creating Blanchio, Dorotheach, Roshi, and Toadphia. For style reference, I drew inspiration from the box art for the original Super Mario Bros 3. The title mimics that of the New Super Mario Bros 2.
